I get this error every time I generate. Perhaps it's because I don't have Excel installed on my development machine. I just don't know. I have just been removing the reference and everything seems to work, but I imagine something is broken somewhere. I haven't tried any kind of exporting etc. I'm now using 3.5 beta but this happened on 3.0 as well.

Error 1 Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) C:\thepath\Web.config 35

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tory

Yes it is due to the missing of Excel library. I would just remove the entry that references it in the web.config.

So, is there any way to develop on a machine that doesn't have Excel installed, and yet still maintain the functionality created by the use of those libraries? I don't have Excel installed because I use Open Office, but most of my users do have Excel.
